The official ceremony to mark the 77th Independence Day of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka got off the ground at the Independence Square this morning. Members of the Association of Leasing and Debt Instalment Payers staged a protest outside the Police Headquarters in Colombo today, claiming that the police had authorised the illegal seizure of vehicles.
