Local gold prices slightly down despite global rise



Colombo, July 4 (Daily Mirror) - Global gold prices continued to remain at elevated levels today (04), with the price of an ounce of gold increasing by 1.52 percent from the previous day to reach US$4,175.07.

Despite the rise in international gold prices, local gold rates recorded a slight decline.

According to the Sri Lanka Jewellers' Association, the price of a pound of 24-carat gold fell from Rs. 386,000 to Rs. 384,000 today.

Meanwhile, the price of a pound of 22-carat gold also decreased, dropping from Rs. 355,100 to Rs. 353,300, the Association said.
