Girl visited her lover, gang raped by lover and his friends

Colombo, June 29 (Daily Mirror) - A young woman on a visit to meet her lover in Wilgamuwa town in Matale District had been gang raped by the lover and three of this friends at a house belonging to one of them. She was a resident of Kandy.

The woman who was taken ill after the incident had been admitted to the Kandy General Hospital where she had revealed the incident to the JMO to whom she was referred to by the doctor who examined her.

She stated that she was taken to a room in a three storied house belonging to one of her lover's friends and raped. The lover had called three others over the phone and allowed them to rape her.

Investigations revealed that her lover was 33 years of age and others were between 37 and 55 years of age and residents of the Wilgamuwa area.

The suspects had consumed liquor and raped the young woman over the night. Later they had taken her to another house and raped her again. The 55 year old individual involved in the incident was the caretaker of that house.

The following day she had fled the house and taken a bus to Kandy. However, when she was taken ill, bleeding profusely, she had been admitted to the Ududumbara hospital and transferred in critical condition to the Kandy National Hospital.

Ududumbara Police that held the preliminary investigations handed over further investigations to Wilgamuwa Police that immediately arrested the four suspects.

The suspects were to be produced before Naula Magistrate in Matale.

A police team under OIC Wilgamuwa Police IP U. Sumedha Bandara and IP J.P Anoma Kumari is conducting investigations.
