The British failed in giving independence to all its citizens in Sri Lanka. This was due to Lord Mountbatten was very keen to get the chairman of the defence staff post in the UK. He hurriedly arranged matters to his convenience and ran away. King George the sixth gave him time till July 1948. The ethnic problem in Sri Lanka is of British making. Shame on Britain.

It's a wise decision to restore the Independence Day celebrations to Independence Square.
Holding them at Galle Face in the past was certainly inappropriate.
Hopefully, the celebration will involve only a moderate expenditure.
May the supreme governing power of the universe bless Sri Lanka.

An independent country means that country should be self sufficient in all aspects. Can Sri Lanka be called as an independent country. I leave this question to the public and the government. We are dependent on everything while calling ourselves as an independent country. Funny isn't it??

@Nicholas Don't make up false narratives and write BS. Sri Lanka gained independence in 1948. Lord Mountbatten became the chairman of the defence staff 11 years later, in 1959.
