NIC mandatory for 2026 G.C.E. (O/L) exam applications: Examinations Department



Colombo, June 3 (Daily Mirror) - The Sri Lanka Examinations Department has announced that it is mandatory to include the National Identity Card (NIC) number when applying for examinations conducted by the department.

In a press release, the department said that all school principals have already been informed to instruct candidates intending to sit the 2026 G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) Examination, scheduled for December 2026, to obtain and prepare their NICs in advance.

Accordingly, the department highlighted that it is the responsibility of all school and private candidates to ensure they have their National Identity Cards ready before the opening of applications for the examination.
