Transport Minister Mahinda Amaraweera yesterday advised the transport authority officials to use train services to transport fuel, vegetables, fruits and other essential commodities needed by the people during the
police curfew.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror he said fuel is now being transported by train and therefore no shortage of fuel prevails in the country.
As such the Minister also advised to use the train services to transport vegetables and fruits to towns.
“The middlemen who used to transport the vegetables and fruits charged an unbearable cost when selling them to people,” Minister Amaraweera said.
He said people would not face any difficulty when receiving their essentials during the police curfew.
