Trader arrested with a stock of aphrodisiacs

A trader who had in his possession a stock of aphrodisiacs called “Madana Modaka” was arrested by Galnewa Police last morning during a raid in Galnewa town.   

Police said schoolchildren and young men and woman attending tuition classes were the patrons of the racket. During the raid the police had seized 30 kilos of the illegal drug which was a hashish product.   

Investigations revealed that the 26-year-old suspect from Sevanagala had been running an Ayurvedic medicine shop in Galnewa town.   

Under interrogation the suspect stated that the market value of the stock of about 2,000 packets of the intoxicant was more than Rs.500,000. He was to be produced before the Kekirawa Magistrate yesterday.   

Police team under OIC Galnewa Police IP Rohan Munasinghe is conducting further investigations.
