Teenager arrested for raping German tourist

The suspect wanted in connection of the alleged rape of an elderly German woman staying  at a Beruwala hotel  was arrested by the police yesterday.   

Police said the 79-year-old tourist had been raped inside her room by an 18-year-old youth 
on April 29.   

The foreigner had been hospitalised following the incident and the suspect had been absconding since then.   
Investigations revealed that the youth was a resident of Beruwala  and that several cases in connection with his involvement in similar incidents were pending in the Kalutara Magistrate’s Court.   

The suspect was to be produced before Kalutara Magistrate yesterday.
