Nominations called on public holidays not valid: Kiriella

Nominations that have been already called for the general election are void as per the Republic Holiday Act of 2971, former Leader of the House Lakshman Kiriella said yesterday.

Mr Kiriella said nominations called on public holidays are not valid.

Accordingly he said the nominations called on March 16,17, 18 and 19th are not valid as per the said Act.
