Former Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera is all set to play in the Legends League Cricket (LLC) tournament in Qatar, it is learnt.

The organisers had approached the 33-year all-rounder recently, and Perera, who retired from international cricket in May 2021, was "more than happy" to participate in this Masters tournament, reliable sources said.

The tournament is scheduled to be played in Doha from February 27 to March 8 this year.

Perera considers himself a professional cricketer and regularly plays franchise tournaments, including captaining the Jaffna team in the LPL (Lanka Premier League).

An Army officer, however, is more focused on his family.

Interestingly, former Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has also agreed to participate in the tournament. By Bipin Dani
