Prabath, Nisala rescue Colombo

Prabath Jayasuriya and Nisala Tharaka rescued Colombo against Kandy on day one of the National Super League four day cricket tournament encounter played at the SSC ground today.

Prabath made a top score of 51 and Nisala chipped in with 38 to put on a valuable 82 run partnership for the ninth wicket. Colombo ended their innings with a respectable score of 214 runs.

Spinners Lasith Embuldeniya and Nimsara Atharagalla who together shared nine wickets did the damage. Kandy in their turn ended the day on 96 for 2.

A five wicket haul by Kavishka Anjula helped Galle to come out on top against Dambulla at the end of the first day’s play in another match of the same tournament played at the R. Premadasa Stadium.

Kavishka’s five enabled Galle to bowl out Dambulla for 155 and Galle in reply ended the day on 90 for 3.

The matches will continue tomorrow.
