Kushan Peiris achieves rare feat at awards ceremony

Colombo, Feb. 6 (Daily Mirror) - Kushan Peiris one of the leading young drivers in Sri Lanka motor racing circuit at present achieved a rare feat when he bagged three awards at the SLARDAR Sri Lanka Super Series 2023 Awards Ceremony held at the Rock House Army Base in Colombo recently.

Peiris had the honor of winning awards for his scintillating driving in the three events of lower class categories when he bagged the best driver’s award namely Ford Laser/Mazda One Make 1300cc and 1500cc and SLH Cars up to 1618cc Honda.

This is the first time in the history of motor car events in the island that a racing driver has won three awards at a major annual awards ceremony. The riders and drivers to win awards in the two categories were:

Best Riders – Group JMX Motocross Bikes 85cc – Dineth Mihiranga. Group MX Motocross Bikes 125cc – Tharaka Namal Kumara. Group M Street Trail 100cc to 125cc – Raveesha Jayashan. Group SM Supermoto 175cc to 250cc – Isuru Maduranga. Group M Super Sport Motorcycles 250cc (4T) – Dhanushka de Silva. Group M Street Trail 250cc (4T) – Lahiru Jeewantha. Group M Super Sports Over 400cc to 600cc (4T) – Kushan Chamod. Group M Super Sports Over 900cc to 1000cc (4T0 – Reza Odayar. Group M Sports Touring Motorcycles upto 1300cc (4T0 – Sasindu Prasansana.

Best Drivers – SLE One Make Nissan March 1000cc – Adeesha Kithwith. SLE Ford Laser/Mazda 323 One Make 1300cc – Prageeth Pravinda. SLN Ford Laser/Mazda 323 1300cc – Kushan Peiris. SLN Ford Laser/Mazda 323 One Make 1500cc – Kushan Peiris. SLA Modified Cars up to 1040cc – Ajith Keerthi. SLH Subaru Legacy One Make 2000cc – Nigel Perera. SLH Cars up to 1618cc Honda – Kushan Peiris

Championship Awards:

  • Motorcycle MX Motocross Bikes 250cc – Lahiru Jeewantha.
  • SL GT Cars up to 3500cc – Ushan Perera.
