Gampola IS, Jaffna MV emerge Cup champions

(Daily Mirror) - The Milo U12 Inter-School Football Carnival conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Football Association and sponsored by Nestle Lanka Ltd under the brand Milo held at the Racecourse ground in Colombo saw two outstation schools Gampola International School and Jaffna Mahajana Vidyalaya emerge Cup champions in the boys' and girls' categories.

The final of the boys' category was a closely contested affair between the ultimate champions Gampola International School and St.Joseph’s Vidyalaya Anuradhapura which went to the wire with match ending in a draw and was decided on the penalty shootouts which Gampola International School prevailed 5-4.

In the girls' category between Jaffna Mahajana Vidyalaya Girls School and Maliyadeva Girls' School Kurunegala saw the former recording a comfortable 2-0 victory to clinch the title.

The tournament saw the participation of 112 teams covering schools from 25 districts and Nestle Lanka Ltd that has been sports promoter at junior level for boys and girls came forward to support this with the aim of providing a platform for young kids to showcase their talent and skills for the betterment of the future endeavours in this sport.
