Sri Lanka women face whitewash

Sri Lanka’s women cricketers are facing a whitewash in the five-match T20 series against India having lost four matches and play their last match today.

Sri Lanka were completely outplayed in the four games as the team made totals of 121, 128 and 112 in the first three matches batting first before conceding a total of 221 for 2 in the fourth game and replying with 191 for 6.

The Sri Lanka bowlers managed to take just nine Indian wickets in the four matches played compared to a haul of 27 wickets taken by the Indian bowlers.

The Sri Lanka team which continues to depend on seven or eight players in as many years are also not a patch of what the team was last year when they won the T20 Asia Cup by beating India in the final at Dambulla.
