Six Brigadiers promoted as Major Generals

President Maithripala Sirisena has promoted six Brigadiers of the Army including Director of Army Media Brigadier Sumith Atapattu to the rank of Major General with effect from July 30. Brigadier Sumith Atapattu is also the Colonel of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR).   

Accordingly the promoted other brigadiers were: D.R.Dharmasiri, J.M.U.D.Jayasinghe, C.K.Handunmulla, A.D.Elwatte and A.I. Marasinghe.   
The promotion of A. I. Marasinghe made with effect from August 15.
