Kabir Hashim appointed UNP Chairman

The United National Party (UNP) working committee decided today to appoint Kegalle District MP and UNP Leadership Council member Kabir Hashim as the party’s new chairman.

UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake told Daily Mirror that Mr. Hashim would replace Kurunegala District MP Gamini Jayawickrama Perera who wished to resign from the post. Mr. Perera had expressed a desire to resign from the post several months ago and it hand over to a younger person.
