MLT annual transfers effective from August 1

Colombo, July 1 (Daily Mirror) - Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) officers in the Western Province whose transfer orders do not specify an effective date will be transferred from August 1, 2026, without having to wait for their successors to assume duties, according to a notification issued by the Western Provincial Health Department.

The announcement follows the approval of the Review Committee's decisions on appeals submitted against the 2026 annual transfer orders of Medical Laboratory Technologist officers serving under the Western Provincial Health Department.

Authorities said the annual transfer orders, initially proposed on April 20, 2026, have been approved subject to amendments recommended by the Review Committee.

Officers who remain dissatisfied with their transfer orders have been given the opportunity to submit appeals to the Western Provincial Public Service Commission in accordance with Sections 239 and 263 of the Provincial Public Service Commission's Code of Procedure.

The notification stated that appeals must be submitted to the Provincial Public Service Commission within 14 days from the date of issuance of the Review Committee's decisions.

The authorities also instructed that Medical Laboratory Technologist officers who have received annual transfer orders should be released from their institutions immediately, while heads of institutions have been directed to make temporary internal arrangements to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.

The transfer list has also been made available on the website of the Western Provincial Health Services Directorate.
