An incident was reported recently regarding a local employee attached to the Swiss Embassy in Sri Lanka who was allegedly detained against her will on the street in Sri Lanka.
The Swiss Embassy said on Friday that a local employee of the embassy had been detained against her will on the street and threatened at length by unidentified men in order to force her to disclose embassy-related information.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry said the investigations into the alleged incident of threatening carried out by the police and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) are underway.
The Ministry noted that the sequence of events and timeline of the alleged Swiss Embassy employee incident did not in any way correspond with the actual movements of the alleged victim on that date. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
