Showers to occur at night across the island



Colombo, July 4 (Daily Mirror) - Showers will occur tonight in several parts of the country, with fairly heavy rainfall expected in some areas, according to the latest 36-hour, the Meteorology Department said.

The Western Province, Sabaragamuwa Province and North Western Province, along with the districts of Galle District, Matara District, Kandy District and Nuwara Eliya District, are expected to experience showers at times during the night. Some locations in these areas may receive fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm.

Meanwhile, several spells of showers are also likely in the Anuradhapura District and Mannar District.

For tomorrow, the same weather pattern is expected to continue, with intermittent showers forecast in the Western Province, Sabaragamuwa Province and North Western Province, as well as in the districts of Galle District, Matara District, Kandy District and Nuwara Eliya District.

In addition, strong winds of 40–50 kmph are expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills and across the Northern Province, North Central Province and North Western Province, as well as in the districts of Ratnapura District, Hambantota District and Trincomalee District.

The public is advised to remain cautious of localized heavy showers and strong winds during this period.
