The deadline for the general public to submit proposals for the process of finalizing the electricity tariff revision ends today at midnight, according to Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) Chairman Janaka Ratnayake.
Speaking to the media, he said that 150 proposals have been received thus far, and that the PUCSL is in the process of finalizing the electricity tariff revision.
Therefore, the commission has decided to conduct the public consultation in-person on July 28.
The PUCSL will be inviting the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and the Energy Ministry to discuss and finalise the tariffs that we intend to revise, the Chairman said.
Earlier, the PUCSL requested all parties, including the public to submit their views and proposals regarding the tariff revision. The due date for receiving written comments is July 18.
This increase will not be done according to any single person's choice but as per the accepted scientific methodology.
The Chairman said no one will be involved with this increase. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
