Sajith bars Daily Mirror over liquor controversy
Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Leader Sajith Premadasa has announced a ban on the Daily Mirror from covering any press briefings held by the SJB.
The decision comes in the wake of accusations made by Premadasa, who criticized the publication for what he deemed as a "mockery of journalism."
Accusing the Daily Mirror of deliberately misquoting a statement made by him on banning liqour licenses in the country, Premadasa expressed his frustration at the handling of his statements. However on many occasions Premadasa has taken out his frustration on the paper after the paper made critical coverage on him as an Opposition Leader.
One such example is when Premadasa said he would lead the Aragalaya to oust former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa from his seat on July 9, 2022, but instead of leading the protest he got himself admitted at a private hospital in Colombo leaving the public to wonder where the Opposition Leader was.
Sajith Premadasa should be reminded that the Daily Mirror does not dance to the tune of any politician but instead serves the public in an accurate manner. Him banning Daily Mirror from press briefings is a loss to himself.

Premadasa is a symbol of political weakness, democratic deficits and tends towards a paranoid personality disorder! He has thereby disqualified himself as a serious presidential candidate! A presidential candidate in a democratic state who cannot tolerate criticism, threatens to ban reporting on a party and wants to muzzle a free press organ cannot possibly become President of Sri Lanka!!! The country needs a president who welcomes criticism, defends democratic rights and freedom of expression and is capable of cooperating with others! Only such a president can lead the country into a better future!

He is trying to avoid the debate organized by Daily Mirror. It's true. This guy is a useless person. You cannot avoid poverty by donating money or other valuables to poor people. I am sick of listening to his lectures However, there are people following him. So I simply can't understand the politics in Sri Lanka.

Finally he did the right thing that had to be done, when RW was the PM he said that the first thing he'd do is bring those to justice in the matter relating to the Easter Sunday Attacks (where he was the PM during the time in gov) and then when he became the president he says the economy is more important and dailymirror.lk didn't question this time to time, but instead kept publishing articles of UNP's lame statements that him/them will crossover and join the party which ultimately didn't happen, and now they're accusing someone who is trying to do something to turnaround things. And interms of the Easter Sunday Attacks, 'justice delayed is justice denied'

Let's be more professional, initially the paper (online ) was read as Sajith has said he will scrap all the liquor shops in the country and even I wondered what this man is telling at a very crucial time. it was later changed and may be a mistake. Let's be more careful in reporting anything.

What can you expect from a person who says that he graduated from a UK university, but published a picture taken of him wearing robes and grad hat, at the Donald's studio in Borella? Donald Karunaratne's famously known signature was at the bottom right corner of the photo. When I pointed that out, I was blocked and his photo was adjusted to oval shape to omit the signature.
