NDB Bank bags Non-Financial Services Champion award from FAW

At the 2022 annual summit of Financial Alliance for Women (FAW) held in London recently, NDB bank was named the Non-Financial Services (NFS) Champion Award recipient for 2022, for its ‘Banking on Women’ initiative and in light of the support towards the upliftment of women by providing financial literacy and improving their access to greater markets through recognition of their achievements.  


As the premier network championing female economies worldwide, the FA for women supports its members to create and implement unique strategies that are women centric. Further, as part of FA for women, NDB has the expertise to facilitate knowledge sharing platforms for further learning and best practices for aspiring female entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka as well. 
Part of the benefits for women fostered by NDB Bank is their exposure to the most innovative markets and provision of tools to grow their financial goals further through optimizing their unique talents profitably.  


NDB’s own Banking on Women (BOW) initiative covers multiple initiatives including workshops, outreach programmes and the flagship Vanithabhimana programme aimed at increasing female participation in economic activity NDB BOW was formed in partnership with the International Finance Corporation and strives to fill gaps in accessibility to quality financing and advisory support for women, from homemakers to entrepreneurs. 


The Financial Alliance for Women partners with other leading organizations seeking to boost women’s economic empowerment. These include the IFC, FMO, IDB Invest, CDC, Data2X and EBRD; leading bilateral agencies such as Sida; and prominent philanthropic organizations such as the UN Foundation and IDRC. The Alliance also proudly works with ecosystem players such as the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI), Mercer, SME Finance Forum, European Women’s Payments Network, Findexable, Beyond the Billion and InvestFem.
