Havelock flanker Sithum Peiris is set to make his Sri Lanka 7’s debut during the Borneo Sevens Rugby Tournament which will kick off this weekend.

The former Wesley forward had an impressive club season for the Park Club which has helped him secure a place in the 12-member squad which will fly to Malaysia tomorrow.

Wing three quarter Kevin Dixon has also returned to the squad having recovered from an injury to his jaw while the CR duo Chanaka Chandimal and Tarinda Ratwatte have both claimed places in the squad.

Sudam Parinda is another Havelock player who has been included in the squad after a successful league campaign while his former schoolmate Adeesha Weeratunga has also sealed a spot having excelled for Navy Sports Club.

Sri Lanka however, will be without their try machine Danushka Ranjan who has been ruled out with a groin injury while wing three quarter Richard Dharmapala and number eight Omalka Gunarathne have both been sidelined due to knee injuries.

Rehan Silva who made his debut in the third leg of the Asia Seven Series last year has retained his place along with Kandy speedster Danush Dayan while Sudharshana Muthuthanthri will remain as captain.
