The DNA samples and fingerprints have confirmed that the body brought to Sri Lanka from Dubai was of underworld linchpin and druglord Rajapaksa Arachchige Dinuka Madushan alias 'Keselwatte Dinuka', police said.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that the body was brought to Sri Lanka under the name of Rajapaksa Kasun Madhuranga recently.
Dinuka reportedly fled to Dubai in 2012 and has been operating his drug trafficking and underworld activities from there. He reportedly had died of a heart attack.
Keselwatte Dinuka is a close associate of notorious drug kingpin “Makandure Madush" who was killed in a shootout with the police in Maligawatte last year.
DIG Rohana said that Keselwatte Dinuka was wanted by police for his involvement in various crimes since 2001 to 2012. DIG Rohana said that the DNA samples taken from the mother of Dinuka has confirmed the identity.
The spokesman said postmortem inquiry has been conducted and several samples taken from the body had been sent to the Government Analyst to determine the cause of the death.
The court ordered the remains to be handed over to the wife of Keselwatte Dinuka and final rites would be held today in Negombo according to the Covid-19 guidelines.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
