IGP Tennakoon elected as National President of International Police Association Sri Lanka

  • Sri Lanka Section of the IPA was recognized by the International Executive Council (IEC) on September 3, 1974 at the World Conference held in Graz, Austria

IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon was elected as the National President of the International Police Association Sri Lanka Section for a period of four years.

The International Police Association (IPA) is the largest Police Organization in the world and it was formed on January 1, 1950 on the initiative of Lancashire Police Constabulary Officer Arthur Troop. Since then its Esperanto motto “Servo Per Amikeco” (Service through Friendship) has reached a membership of well over 500,000 and National Sections exist in 69 countries throughout the World.  

Sri Lanka Section of the IPA was recognized by the International Executive Council (IEC) on September 03, 1974 at the World Conference held in Graz, Austria.  

During the Annual National Congress for the year 2024 of the International Police Association Sri Lanka Section, IGP Tennakoon was unanimously elected as the National President and Women Chief Inspector of Police Mrs. Sunethra Senevirathne was elected as the National Secretary General of the International Police Association Sri Lanka Section for a period of four years along with the National Executive Council Members.
