TikTok love affair becomes an ordeal

A 17-year-old youth has been arrested for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl whom he had made friends with through TikTok, the police said. 

Kalutara North Police have arrested the suspect together with the girl whom they have found with him. 

The victim was subjected to questioning by the police. 

Initial investigations have revealed that the victim, who is a resident of Marawila had got to know the 17-year-old suspect through TikTok and had developed a relationship. She has been subjected to harassment after the suspect visited her and stayed with her for a few days. He had sexually harassed her for the second time at a house belonging to her sister in Puttalam. 

The victim was later subjected to a medical check-up. 

Investigations are being carried out on the advice of DIG North Western Province Ajith Rohana by a police team led by SP Rohan Perera and SP Dammika Hapugoda.
