Inquiry on visa scam: CoPF decides not to divulge information

Parliament, May 09 (Daily Mirror)- The Committee on Public Finance (CoPF) has decided not to temporarily divulge any details on the visa fiasco because of its sensitive nature, CoPF Chairman Harsha de Silva said today.

"The examination of the Sri Lanka visa outsourcing contract began at the CoPF in Parliament today. We will meet again on 14 May to continue the discussions. As Chair of the committee, this is all we wish to state to the media, given the ongoing sensitive nature of the matter," Dr. de Silva said.

Dr. de Silva told the Daily Mirror that he will comment and reveal details on the visa scam only after May 14.

Also, he said the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration was asked to look into the breech of personal data. He did not divulge details on it as well.

As you would know people run with half baked information and create a media circus and jeopardize a fair investigation. @DW - They did not have dual citizenship but they had dual hearts, One to Pickpocket Treasury and other to fool the public. What Banda did, abolish English Language and sent his children to France to educate them. Dual citizens take oath to protect the interest of country which offered him citizenship. While Banda's oath was to protect his family not SL public.

You were all voted to parliament not to keep secrets, what right have you to play god to now prevent the public knowing , after it was raised by a member of the public. And this was done by the Department upto now. You all shed crocodile tears, asks everyone to be careful when one votes. By this Harsha de Silva implies that after election the public has given up it right to know, they must accept the all knowing parliamentarians everything have the supreme rightis decided cannot be questioned.
