Club dancer nabbed with Kush at BIA

Katunayaka, May 9 (Daily Mirror) - A 32-year-old club dancer who attempted to smuggle a stock of Kush worth Rs. 500 million into the country was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) yesterday by the officers of the Police Narcotics Division.

Following investigations by the Narcotics Division officials, the stock of Kush was found concealed inside his luggage.

The suspect had attempted to smuggle the Kush weighing 5 kg (278g), packed in 36 parcels.

He arrived at the airport on AirAsia flight FD-140 from Bangkok, Thailand. 

The Police Narcotics Bureau is conducting investigations into the incident.

    Wonder how he got customs cleared at Bangkok airport as they too are extremely strict., if he had got caught at Bangkok he would have been sentenced to death as per their law.

    In Germany it is assumed that around 20% of smuggled drugs are intercepted. Due to the lack of technical equipment in Sri Lanka, it can be assumed that only a maximum of 10% of the drugs are intercepted.
