Nationwide lockdown from tonight till 10 days

A nationwide lockdown has been announced from 10 pm tonight till Monday, August 30, Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said.

The lockdown will be lifted on August 30, at 4 am.

All essential services will however continue to function as normal. (JH)

Even tho I detest this decision I'm ok with it. I hope Authorities use this period to check up on everyone and do full speed vaccination. I also hope they will open up the country on aug 30 and don't keep extending further like they did it before.

We have a very thoughtful President who announces this lockdown at around 3pm making it catastrophic bid for people to rush and purchase the essentials before the lockdown starts in a few hours thereby contracting the virus in the process. What a great thoughtful President we have.

shops crowded, petrol shed overflowing, crazy traffic. These things should be given 2 days in order for the people to prepare. Don't know how many got infected in the queues today.
