The 'Presidential Task Force for One Country, One Law' was a golden opportunity to make the social issues discussed by the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) organisation a reality, Head of the Task Force Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera said today.
He told during a virtual press conference of the Presidential Media Centre that what was expected from the Presidential Task Force according to the gazette notification was the same matters that the BBS had focused on over the years.
The prelate said the BBS had been talking about social issues such as sterilization, religious conversions and cultural invasions over the years and added that it was these very facts that need to be brought into the draft expected from the Presidential Task Force for One Country, One Law.
“People are well aware of what the BBS has been talking about. We talked about state-patronage sterilization, religious conversions and cultural invasions. We need to discuss the same matters according to the mandate of the Task Force. We have to include the same matters in the draft expected from the Task Force,” the thera said.
The Thera said they expected to draft a legal framework, where everyone is treated under one law irrespective of their racial, religious or other differences.
“We are expected not to draft laws. We are expected to ascertain whether the public needs had been meted out through the prevailing legal system by looking at them in a different and practical angle. We are not expected to look at things how legal experts look at them,” he said.(Ajith Siriwardana)

Wow amazing then that means priests and monks will be treated the same as normal laymen? Also noise pollution from places of worship will be subjected to the same noise laws as normal places?

for one country one law to work, first of all it must start with equal representation of all communities ( and genders) living in this country, other wise it will be the majority telling others how to live their life
