From this we can see, the persons in charge are still unable to make a simple assessment of standards and quantities. So why are we giving a salary increase if losses are happening inside Govt Divisions?

    lalit Monday, 27 November 2023 11:58 AM

Who will pay for the loss... Is there any accountability

Make drugs with a longer shelf life Monday, 27 November 2023 12:04 PM

Why aren’t drugs being manufactured with a longer shelf life? Would you buy furniture that is guaranteed to last two years?

    lalitha Monday, 27 November 2023 12:33 PM

    Are these drugs recycled

    European Monday, 27 November 2023 12:39 PM

If they could, they would ofcourse. I appreciate the scientists that developed these vaccins in such very short time and preventing the escalation of the Covid disaster even more.

    Mahila Monday, 27 November 2023 01:54 PM

Drugs, specially, drugs for inoculations have always very limited shelf life!! People conversant with the subject, would be ordering it and scheduling deliveries to optimise life and usage!!! Naturally the guys who ordered didn't know that part and/or didn't care!!!??? Government Money!!! Someone enlighten who and how ordered?? My memory serves me right, it was an Old Colonial time past British owned plantation company, taken over by a media mogul!!?? Correct me if wrong!!!??? Ballage Weda Boorowa Keranawa Wage???

    joshua Monday, 27 November 2023 12:36 PM

Well done health ministry. Your service deserves credit and more salary increases

This is reality Monday, 27 November 2023 12:36 PM

Who cares? The commissions have been taken upfront so even if they are used or thrown away there is no issue.

    Nihal S Monday, 27 November 2023 12:43 PM

Incompetent people involved in the procurement process - who can not do the simple comparison of the demand Vs supply.

Potta Harry Monday, 27 November 2023 12:55 PM

As a member of general public, I take the responsibility for this great blunder and the massive day light corruption against the poor government of SL. I tender my resignation as a citizen of this lovely country to migrate.

    billSorros Monday, 27 November 2023 01:13 PM

Pending, to be repopulated all over again..

    cineha Monday, 27 November 2023 01:26 PM

Remember? While the general public were given Astra Zenaca vaccine , the Pfizer vaccine was hoarded at the Army hospital and was administered only to selected privileged few."api thamai hondatama karea".........hic....hic...

Tom jones Monday, 27 November 2023 01:30 PM

The biggest Liability in the country is the Health Dept and Health Ministry.

    Christo255 Monday, 27 November 2023 01:33 PM

So what's the problem? I see DG Health Services acting like a baba on TV and aren't we the richest nation in the world to throw away vaccines from Pfizer. Summa salli

    Ram Monday, 27 November 2023 02:09 PM

This is a crime against the country. Those who ordered such large quantity of vaccine must be charged. When ordering drugs, vaccines and medications statistics on consumption must be checked before ordering. Regarding vaccines the quantity already imported, used, balance available for use etc must have been checked before the order

    Ram Monday, 27 November 2023 02:11 PM

Hope our new Minister will recommend to CID to investigate and file charges against those responsible for the order

    Ah Monday, 27 November 2023 02:17 PM

May be the covid pandemic was over and there was no need for the balance vaccination. Lets think positive. If that was the case we must thank god profusely than think of wastage.

    Danuka Monday, 27 November 2023 03:19 PM

This happened under the GR/MR combo era. Rs. 10 Billion wasted.

    Sarath Monday, 27 November 2023 03:29 PM

how much is 10% They must have ordered more than required just to collect their 10%

    Sick Monday, 27 November 2023 03:32 PM

Pfizer was the worse covid drug. Govt forced us to take it. Even today, body and joints ache for no reason.

    ChildOfGod Monday, 27 November 2023 03:50 PM

AH dream on, COVID has gone no vanished into thin air. We have COVID still around overseas in developed countries, so why THINK that COVID is NOT in Sri Lanka a undeveloped country? when it is still present in the country. What a wastage of $$$$, all those who were involved in the importation of these vaccines should be held to account and should be sacked when it is revealed what benefit they received from all importation. Also, investigation needs to go into verify if these vaccines were offered to the general public far as into all the villages and remote areas of the island. All culprits should be SACKED if found guilty and if they oiled their own palms, all monies recovered.

Hard Truth Monday, 27 November 2023 04:03 PM

Such an incompetent set of people run, rule, manage, administer

    Gamini Monday, 27 November 2023 05:28 PM

Increase personal income tax of hard working private sector employees to recover this GR/MR created loss of tax payers money

    Cherath Monday, 27 November 2023 05:43 PM

Experienced and qualified personnel would know about optimum stock levels, reordering cycle, minimum storage requirements etc. to ensure a right balance between stocks and utilisation. Also, when entering into a contract with a supplier it is mandatory to include a clause ensuring the cost of faulty and damaged items are credited back. The purchaser must ensure they order only the quantity requested by Nationwide health authorities as per its patient population. Then, this kind of monumental loss to the people will never happen.

    Cherath Monday, 27 November 2023 05:49 PM

They lose Rs.10 billion. At the same time, Ranil is saying he cannot find that amount for Local elections.

Tissa Fernando Tuesday, 28 November 2023 06:45 AM

Many in the opposition critisized Gotabhaya government for not placing orders for Pfizer. But once Pfizer got the order, many did not want to take that vaccine. It is a situation with covid Vaccines all over the world.
