Trinity Stuns Pathana in Quarters

CR & FC Centenary 7s Rugby Tournament

Trinity College pulled off a stunning victory of (19 -7) over Isipathana College in the inter school segment quarter finals of CR & FC Centenary 7s Rugby Tournament at Longden Place today.

Having lost to St. Joseph's College in their group stage game, Trinity were clear underdogs against Isipathana who had beaten Zahira College (26-15) and Vidyratha College (17-14), but the team from the Hill Capital made light work of inter school league rugby giants in the all important quarter-final to seal their spot in the semis.

Meanwhile, their arch rivals Royal College who will now be the favorites to win the tournament, also claimed their place in the final four of the cup competition after beating D.S. Senanayake College (21-17) in the quarter-final. Royal had previously defeated Wesley College (15-0) and St. Peter's College (19-12).

Despite the early defeat to Royal, Peterites were able to qualify for the quarters thanks to their win over Wesley College (24-0) in the group stage game. The team from Bambalapitiya then advanced to the semis after beating Kingswood College (26-17) in the a thrilling quarter-final.
