Sri Lanka to inaugurate first boat launching ramp to boost marine industry

Colombo, June 10 (Daily Mirror) - The Industries and Entrepreneurship Development Ministry, which is driving initiatives to strengthen Sri Lanka’s emerging boat and boat-related manufacturing sector, will inaugurate the country’s first-ever Boat Launching Ramp tomorrow (11).

The facility, constructed at a cost of Rs. 76 million, is expected to support the expansion of the marine manufacturing industry, which has been identified as a key export-oriented growth area in the national economy.

The inauguration ceremony will be held under the patronage of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development Minister Sunil Handunnetthi, along with the participation of the Ministry Secretary Thilaka Jayasundara.

Officials say the project marks a significant step toward strengthening infrastructure support for boat production, testing, and launching activities, with the aim of enhancing competitiveness in both domestic and export markets.
