Newly elected MHA Executive Committee members 2024/25
The Mercantile Hockey Association (MHA) convened its 68th Annual General Meeting at the Burgher Recreation Club in Colombo on Saturday, March 30, 2024. The meeting saw the election of a new executive committee to lead the association for the year 2024/25.
V. Balagobi of Deloitte Sri Lanka was re-elected as President, while Mohamed Hanas from Singer Sri Lanka Plc was appointed Hony Secretary, and Yogendran Suganthan from Sampath Bank was elected Assistant Secretary. Additionally, Sameera Ushantha and Deepika Kariyawasam from Sampath Bank and Hayleys PLC, respectively, were chosen as Hony. Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer. Notable appointments include Kumar De Silva as Vice Patron and Chandana Weragama as Vice President.

Patron: Dr. Rohitha Silva
Vice Patrons: Deva Ellepola, Tharaka Ranwala, Ramesh Schaffter, Manjula Wijemanne, Iqram Cuttilan, and Kumar de Silva
Vice Presidents: M. Juragan Majid, Ajith De Silva, Christopher Tissera, Sumith Jayasena, and Chandana Weragama
General Committee Members: M.J.M. Irshad, Thilina Perera, H.G. Jayaprakash, Priyan Senevirathna, Gihan Peiris, Laknath Guruge, Vishwa Prabath, Sachith Dilshan, and Malan De Alwis
Balagobi, in his address to the gathering, expressed confidence in the newly elected committee and thanked the outgoing committee for their service.
The MHA remains committed to promoting hockey and fostering a spirit of sportsmanship among its members. The newly elected leadership looks forward to upholding the association’s values and working towards the advancement of hockey in Sri Lanka. (BM)
