Speaker meets AG

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya had met with Attorney General Dappula de Livera at the Speaker’s Residence on Tuesday afternoon following a decision taken at the Constitutional Council (CC) last Friday, Parliament sources said.  

The AG has enlightened the Speaker with regard to the steps taken by his Department.  The speaker and the AG had agreed upon the importance of upholding the image of respective institutions.   It was earlier reported that Speaker Karu Jayasuriya is to summon AG Dappula de Livera following a decision made by the CC that Speaker should summon him to question about the directive he had given to arrest Judge Gihan Pilapitiya.
