Offering of rice held at Sri Maha Bodhi

The “Aluth Sahal Mangalyaya”, to offer the first portion of rice in the Maha Season to the Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura was held with Chief Incumbent of the Ruwanweliseya Chethiya and Sanghanayake of the Nuwara Kalaviya Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Thera as the Chief Guest.   The ceremony held for the 53rd year had been organised by the Agrarian Development Department under the guidance of Chief Incumbent of Anuradhapura Atamasthanadhipathi and Chief Sanghanayake of the North Central Province Ven. Pallegama Siriniwasa Thera.   

The ceremony was held this year in a low key due to the prevailing crisis created by Covid-19 epidemic.   
Minister S. M. Chandrasena, Commissioner General of Agrarian Development W. M. M. B. Weerasekara, Asst. Commissioner P. G. Somaratna and several senior officials participated.
