We were summoned before the Parliamentary Privilege Committee on July 25, on an article published on February 28, 2024, under the heading ‘SLPP Parliamentarian Accused of Land Grab in Kalpitiya’ which requested us to publish an apology immediately.

However, we reliably learn that a Writ Application bearing No: 185/2024 has been filed and is pending in the Court of Appeal with regard to the contents of this article.

As the matter is sub judice, we, as the publisher making any comment whatsoever could be treated as contemptuous and therefore as a responsible publisher, we shall refrain from making any comment on the matter until an appropriate stage and a determination by the Court of Appeal thereof.
