2,498 qualify for South Korean jobs

Colombo, July 9 (Daily Mirror) - The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) has announced the release of the results of the Korean Language Proficiency Test (KLPT), with 2,498 applicants qualifying for employment in South Korea.

The Korean Language Proficiency Test, the basic qualification required for employment under South Korea's Employment Permit System (EPS), was conducted using the Ubiquitous-Based Test (UBT) method between October 2025 and March 2026.

A total of 28,204 candidates sat for the examination, of whom 3,839 passed in the manufacturing and fisheries sectors. Those candidates subsequently appeared for a skills test and a competency assessment, after which 2,498 were selected as eligible for employment.

Meanwhile, under the special examination for former workers who had completed four years and 10 months of employment in South Korea and sought re-employment, 110 out of 261 candidates qualified for jobs in the manufacturing and fisheries sectors.

The SLBFE said Sri Lankans continue to secure employment opportunities in South Korea under the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the governments of Sri Lanka and South Korea. Accordingly, 3,812 Sri Lankans left for South Korea for employment during 2025.
