Cargills Bank yesterday said its core operations remain fully secure and functional, despite a cybersecurity incident that occurred last month.
In a disclosure to the Colombo Stock Exchange on Wednesday, the bank assured that all banking services continue to operate normally and that the customers can conduct transactions with confidence.
Last month, an unauthorised party claimed to have accessed and published certain data belonging to the bank. An ongoing investigation has since confirmed that some of the bank’s information is among the exposed data.
“Upon detection of the incident, the bank engaged a team of leading international cybersecurity specialists to support our response. Their mandate includes incident investigation, containment and strengthening of the bank’s cybersecurity framework,” Cargills Bank said in its statement.
The bank said it had promptly notified the regulatory and law enforcement authorities and continues to provide updates while fully cooperating with their investigations. Additionally, it is reaching out to the affected stakeholders individually.
“We remain fully committed to protecting our customers’ data and privacy and are working closely with the relevant authorities to contain the unlawful dissemination of data and safeguard all stakeholders,” the bank said.
