NPP’s Negombo Mayor resigns

Colombo, July 15 (Daily Mirror) - The Mayor of the Negombo Municipal Council, Attorney-at-Law Robert Heenkenda, announced this afternoon that he is resigning from the post.

Heenkenda was appointed to the post of Mayor following the last Local Government elections.

Heenkenda said that his decision to resign as Mayor is a personal decision, and that a new Mayor will be appointed in the future, just as the political authority of the National People's Power (NPP) had appointed him as the Mayor.
