An American national and two locals were arrested on allegedly attempting to export 53 grams of cocaine to America. They were charged with cocaine-trafficking and were ordered to be detained under the Police Narcotic Bureau till August 23, by a Colombo Court today.

The Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) filing a report before Colombo Fort Magistrate informed that three suspects were arrested by the police at the Katunayake International Airport while the American national and his wife (a Sri Lankan) were attempting to leave the country. The officials attached to the Airport Anti-Narcotic Unit had arrested the two suspects on suspicious grounds and later handed them over to the PNB. The PNB further charged that the third suspect who attempted to release the arrested suspects from their custody was also arrested on charges of aiding and abetting to export cocaine.

The PNB further submitted in Court that they were seeking Interpol and assistance over attempting to export cocaine to America. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)
