Deputy Speaker Salih, Rauf Hakeem attend Khamenei’s funeral

Colombo, July 4 (Daily Mirror) - Deputy Speaker Dr. Rizvie Salih left for Tehran to attend the State funeral services of Iran’s late supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. 

The Deputy Speaker will attend funereal services representing President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

Opposition MP Rauf Hakeem has also left for Tehran to attend the funeral services of Ali Khamenei.

The ceremonial funeral services will take place on Saturday and Sunday (July 4, 5) in Tehran, the capital of Iran.

Khamenei was killed aged 86 in a joint United States-Israeli air strike on his compound on February 28, the first day of the US-Israel war on Iran.

Al Jazeera reported quoting Iranian state-linked news broadcaster IRIB that representatives from more than 100 countries are expected to attend the funeral of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
