Woman dies, six injured in Expressway mishap

A 56-year-old woman died and six others injured when a jeep in which they were travelling crashed with a van, between the Athurugiriya and Kadawatha sections of the Southern Expressway early this morning.

The accident occurred when the jeep heading to Katunayake from Kahathuduwa rammed against the rear side of the van which was carrying a group of people returning from a funeral house in Galle.

The deceased is a resident of Malabe.

The injured were admitted to the Homagama Hospital.
