US$ 41,000 required on daily basis to settle Lotus Tower debt: Patali

A daily revenue of US$ 41,000 has to be earned from the Lotus Tower, if Sri Lanka is to settle the loans obtained to construct it, MP Patali Champika Ranawaka said.

Speaking to the media , MP Ranawaka said a total amount of US$ 105 million has been spent for the tower.

" A sum of Rs. 4.5 million had been spent for providing housing for each family who were living in the land, in which the Lotus Tower was built. In addition the total amount, a further US$ 56 million needed to settle them.This has to be settled in five years," the MP said.

"Therefore it is only a gloomy picture which the lotus tower does portray" he added.

He said Lotus Tower would have been a good project for a country which earns a huge revenue. (Yohan Perera)
