Three accused sentenced to death for trafficking over 179 Kg of heroin

Colombo, May 16 (Daily Mirror) - Colombo High Court Judge Aditya Patabendi today sentenced three accused to death for the possession and trafficking of over 179 kilograms of heroin.

The narcotics were being transported on a multi-day fishing vessel within the Beruwala maritime zone in 2018, when the suspects were apprehended.

The three accused were found guilty of possessing and trafficking the heroin.

In the same case, the court acquitted and released five other accused due to a lack of sufficient evidence.
