Six couples in Meegoda officially tie knots in community wedding ceremony

Colombo, June 30 (Daily Mirror) - Six unmarried couples from Hettiyawatta, Meegoda, who had been living together as family units with their children for many years, officially entered into legal marriage in a special community wedding ceremony held recently.

The couples formally registered their marriages with mutual consent, marking a new chapter in their lives as legally wedded partners.

The programme was organised by the Urban Settlement Development Authority of the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Urban Development as part of its ongoing social development initiatives.

The event was held with the support of the Homagama Divisional Secretariat and the Community Development Society, offering the couples an opportunity to legally and ceremonially celebrate their unions.
