The public transport services between the provinces commenced after inter-provincial travel restrictions were lifted at 4 am today.

During the previous meeting at the Presidential Task Force of Covid-19, it had been decided to lift the travel restrictions between provinces from October 31.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said that the decision was taken with the aim of maintaining normalcy in the lives of the people.

The Transport Ministry said that inter-provincial public transport services will be resumed from today.

However, according to the new health guidelines, provincial public transport services should be operated only for seated passengers.
