No force behind appointing MR as PM: Welgama

There is no force behind appointing former premier Mahinda Rajapaksa again. The Rajapaksa tide has already died down, Kalutara district Samagi Jana Bala (SJB) MP Kumara Welgama said.

He responded to a journalist's question about Mahindananda Aluthgamage's statement that a force is being formed to re-appoint MR as premier.

As far as I can say, Rajapaksa cannot be re-elected, but I cannot predict what would happen in the future, even if Marcos Jr. is re-elected, there was no force behind that.

"Creating a force is totally and a blatant lie," the MP said. But there is a way of appointing MR as Prime Minister again. The President has the power to do that. But the people of this country do not prefer bringing the Rajapaksas to power again," he said.

"If it happens, people would come in their numbers and encircle us by trains, buses, and bicycles once again. I don't know what would happen next," Welgama added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
