Malwathu Maha Viharaya denies claims of intervention request by Mahinda Rajapaksa

Colombo, June 30 (Daily Mirror) - The Malwathu Maha Viharaya in Kandy has denied claims circulating on social media that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa sought the temple’s intervention to prevent the arrest of former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa.

Issuing an official statement, the temple described the reports as completely baseless and misleading. 
It clarified that no such request was made by the former president nor had any meeting or telephone conversation taken place as alleged.

The Malwathu Maha Viharaya also warned that legal action would be pursued against individuals or organisations responsible for disseminating such false information intended to incite public unrest.
