Colombo, May 09 (Daily Mirror) - A low-level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka is likely to develop into a low-pressure area around May 11, with prevailing showery conditions across the island expected to continue over the next few days, the Department of Meteorology said.
The department said strong winds could be experienced over both deep and shallow sea areas surrounding the island, as well as over the deep sea regions of the Bay of Bengal, in the coming days.
Sea areas in these regions are also expected to become rough due to the developing weather system.
According to meteorological data issued today (09), there is also a probability of cyclogenesis — the formation of a depression — within the next 168 hours.
